What Is The Family Medical Leave Act?

The Family and Medical Leave Act, also known as FMLA, entitles eligible employees of covered employers to take unpaid, job-protected leave for specified family and medical reasons with continuation of group health insurance coverage under the same terms and conditions as if the employee had not taken leave.

How Can I Get Help?

There are multiple ways to get help for any addiction you are struggling with. After you have decided to attend a rehabilitation program, contact your company’s EAP representative to learn what your company offers. FMLA will protect you, your job, and your personal rights. It also is extra security that no one will know about your leave of absence for treatment.

Frequently Asked Questions

If you are caught in a dangerous position and do not self disclose that you need aid in finding treatment, your employment may be terminated for violation of company policies. Although it may sound counterintuitive, coming forward to your employer about your need for treatment will allow them to help you build a plan for treatment and continued employment.

An addiction treatment program is typically broken down into 4 phases, detox, residential, partial hospitalization, and intensive outpatient. Each phase of the continuum of care is vital to the success rate of a program, and doing them out of order can decrease expected long-term sobriety. Speaking with an addiction treatment specialist about your unique situation will allow them to create a custom treatment plan for long-term success.

Struggling with both a mental health issue and an addiction is typically considered having a dual diagnosis. It’s important to find a treatment option that treats BOTH issues and does not leave one unattended. At Landmark Recovery we build our programs to the needs of each patient, and ensure that anything impacting the success of their treatment is addressed in therapy sessions.

We offer family therapy, and dedicated family days to allow you to stay connected with loved ones while in treatment. At Landmark Recovery we believe it is vital that loved ones are a part of any treatment program to increase the chances of long-term success.

FMLA specifically covers twelve workweeks of leave in a 12-month period for serious health conditions that makes the employee unable to perform the essential functions. This includes addiction treatment. Long-term options like Intensive outpatient provide extended treatment outside of residential care that allow individuals to continue their recovery while returning to their normal routine.

Yes! Intensive outpatient programs, or IOP are designed for patients to attend 3-4 times per week for a total of 8 weeks. Typically multiple times are available to fit a variety of schedules, with most options being after normal work hours, between 6-9pm.
