Knoxville Healthy Living & Recovery Resource Guide

How can you start living your best life after a recovery from addiction?

Addiction can be detrimental to your body, mind, and your spirit. For those struggling with drug or alcohol addiction, Landmark Recovery of Knoxville works diligently to not only treat these addictions, but to also teach self-love and coping mechanisms so that patients can unlock their potential and begin a life of recovery. While Rocky Top is considered a “college party town,” there is still so much you can do to have fun and stay on track with your recovery journey!

Once you’ve experienced the positive impact from the freedom of addiction – physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually – Landmark believes that this difference will contribute to other areas of your life as well. Whether you’re hoping to strengthen your relationships with your loved ones, start setting goals and achieving them, or improve your mental or physical health, it all begins with you and your mindset. You must take care of yourself before you can care for others.

To get you started, we’ve put together a list of local activities and resources as you pursue healthy living and a life of recovery in the Knoxville area.

For Improving Your Mental Health

Your mental health should be just as important to you as your physical health. Mental health is a lot more complex than asking yourself, “am I happy or am I sad?” Mental health includes our emotional, psychological, and social well-being.

The way we handle stress, relate to others, and make choices are all factors that derive from the state of mind we are in. Taking care of your mental health is vital in addiction recovery and there are many ways to be kind to your mind. For some, just talking to someone and sorting out their trauma and past experiences can do wonders. For others, taking the time to do something you enjoy and scheduling that time for yourself consistently can really clear your mind.

No matter how you choose to take care of yourself mentally, Knoxville has several professionals, support groups, and organizations available to you.

Between juggling school, jobs, internships, and extracurricular activities, anxiety can skyrocket, and it can start to feel like you are spinning out of control.
