At Landmark Recovery, each patient is assigned a dedicated, Masters Level licensed therapist and meets with the therapist at least weekly. Self-pay patients and patients on Detox or Residential levels of care meet with their therapist twice weekly—double the national average. Individual sessions are completely tailored to the individual’s needs and goals, and we integrate many evidence based practices, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Trauma Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing, in order to maximize the chance of sobriety post discharge. Some goals of individual therapy may include:
- Understanding the underlying events that first led to the desire to use or drink
- Predicting and unpacking environmental triggers to use
- Planning for success post treatment
- Integrating into a supportive community to increase success post treatment
Individual therapy sessions will allow for patients to process through some of the issues which are uncomfortable to discuss at a group level.
The therapists within our program are keenly aware of the thoughts and feelings which contribute to active addiction. Much of the focus in treatment will thus be learning new coping skills, both at an individual and group level.
Therapists will give patients individual assignments that will be worked on throughout their time in treatment. Consequently, a patient will have the opportunity to process through this assigned work with the therapist, thus developing more skills to be used.
