In today’s episode, Zach is joined by David Poses, who overcame a heroin addiction that controlled over two decades of his life. He is now an activist for addiction and lives his life to help others. The two discuss accidental drug overdose, which is currently the leading cause of death in America for people under the age of 50. The term “accidental” means that it is preventable. And prevention comes from determining the potency of a drug. You see the labels on bottles of alcohol, and even legalized THC in some states. Another fact about this being preventable: 95% of people addicted to opioids have a co-occuring mental disorder. But how many of these people are getting treated for their mental health?
