NORFOLK, Va., –September 6, 2022 – Landmark Recovery, a family-owned drug and alcohol addiction treatment provider, will open the doors to one of the largest Medicaid treatment facilities in the area, Praxis of Norfolk by Landmark Recovery. The new 60-bed treatment center adds 56 full- and part-time jobsto Norfolk, while providing the community with evidence-based and individualized addiction recovery programs.
“Currently, only 5% of recovery beds available in our entire country accept Medicaid,” said Michelle Dubey, chief clinical officer for Landmark Recovery. “Praxis of Norfolk can help more than 720 Medicaid members each year find recovery from an addiction. Our goal in opening this facility is to help save lives and make addiction treatment more accessible to those who need it.”
Located at 1516 Harmon St. Norfolk, Virginia. This 27,303- square- foot treatment facility is the largest single addiction treatment center accepting Medicaid in the Norfolk area. Praxis of Norfolk by Landmark Recovery increases accessibility to high quality addiction treatment for those with Medicaid insurance. The recovery center will provide medical detox, residential treatment, and outpatient services to those suffering from substance use disorders. Unlike other treatment facilities, Landmark welcomes patients with a dual diagnosis, meaning those with mental health issues and substance use addictions.
It is the first treatment location in Virginia operated by Landmark Recovery. The company will celebrate the grand opening with a ribbon-cutting ceremony starting at 1:00 p.m. on September 19, 2022. Praxis of Norfolk by Landmark Recovery is equipped with an outdoor courtyard, a gazebo, smart TVs, and a 12- passenger van for off-site events. The new facility is a 25-minute drive from downtown Norfolk.
More than 107,000 lives were claimed nationwide by drug overdose last year. Virginia saw a 69% increase in drug overdose deaths between 2020 and 2021. More than 2,603 Virginia residents lost their lives to overdose.
