The first stage of the recovery process often involves undergoing medical detox to flush out all traces of drugs and/or alcohol from your system. It’s highly recommended that detox is overseen by trained clinical staff. Those receiving inpatient rehab treatment received three meals a day. We offer two hours of individual therapy each week, along with group counseling and classes to help patients learn how to overcome their addictions. Our patient engagement specialists are always nearby to answer any questions and provide support. A daily schedule helps patients focus on healing, building inner strength and developing the skills they need to stay sober.
During inpatient rehab at Praxis of Louisville by Landmark Recovery, you’ll follow a schedule that includes intensive therapy, counseling, and classes to help you achieve sobriety. You’ll have some free time and three meals a day.

In 2018, the Bluegrass State had the ninth-highest drug overdose fatality rate in the United States. There were reportedly 30.9 drug overdose deaths per 100,000 people. Equally important is the ongoing opioid epidemic, which continues to be connected to most drug-related deaths in Kentucky. From 2015-2019, 75% of drug overdose deaths involved an opioid.
Excessive alcohol use has done even more damage to Kentucky communities. In 2019, alcohol-related driving deaths accounted for 20.5% of all Kentucky fatalities. The city of Louisville, responsible for producing one-third of the world’s bourbon supply, posted the nation’s 8th-highest rate of alcohol-impaired deaths in 2018 at 31.3%.
The good news is more Kentucky residents are receiving treatment for substance use disorders. A single-day count from the Behavioral Health Barometer reported that 28,452 people in Kentucky were enrolled in substance use treatment in 2019, an increase from 23,565 people in 2015. Research shows that Kentucky residents struggle with alcoholism more than any substance in the state. Kentucky has the third-highest rate of binge drinking, having more than four (women) or five (men) drinks in one sitting, in the country. The Kentucky State Police reported nearly 22,000 DUI arrests in 2019.
Marijuana was once the most abused illicit substance in the state of Kentucky. From 2013-2014, Kentucky residents ages 18-25 had the highest percentage of past-month marijuana use at 16.6%. Although Kentucky Democrats approved a bill to legalize medical marijuana in 2022, the possession of any amount of marijuana remains illegal across the state.
Heroin use, especially fatalities, is low compared to other drugs in Kentucky. In 2020, drug overdose deaths involving heroin happened at a rate of 2.48 per 100,000 people. However, emergency department visits due to heroin overdose happened at one of the highest rates in the Bluegrass State. In fact, heroin-involved nonfatal emergency department visits happened at a rate of 83.71 per 100,000 people in 2020.
Kentucky has the fifth-highest opioid dispensing rate in the United States. The Overdose Fatality Report stated that more than 1,964 Kentucky residents died from drug overdoses in 2020. Furthermore, opioid abuse was reportedly found in 71% of those drug overdose deaths. When it comes to the prescription pain relievers like Percocet or codeine, three in 10 (30%) Kentucky adults reported that a family member, friend or themselves experienced problems as a result of opioid abuse.
At one time, cocaine was among the most abused substances in the metropolitan areas of Kentucky. From 1998 to 2000, 16% of all drug addiction treatment admissions were for powdered cocaine abuse. Since then, cocaine drug poisoning has remained stable throughout the state of Kentucky. The rise of methamphetamine usage has devastated Kentucky since the beginning of the century. Yes. You will be able to speak to your loved one while they are in treatment. Once they have completed our detox level of their care, they will be able to start making calls to family members. They will also have Family Day every Friday as part of their programming, which includes therapeutic activities for families to participate in together, lunch, and visitation time.
