Rehab from alcohol addiction is a multi-step process. For the best chance of recovery, alcohol detox and rehabilitation should be done with the assistance and supervision of clinical substance abuse experts at an accredited drug and alcohol rehab center. At Landmark Recovery of Denver, we offer the highest quality of alcohol detox and rehab treatment, but close to home. We are also committed to walking alongside you for the long-term recovery as you work toward a brighter future – one of sobriety, hope, and health.
Excessive alcohol use has immediate effects on those who use it. Alcohol abuse has resulted in many accidents and injuries from motor vehicle crashes to drowning. It also can lead to alcohol poisoning from high blood alcohol levels; violence; miscarriage and stillbirth or fetal alcohol spectrum disorders among pregnant women; and risky behaviors such as unprotected sex.
Consuming excessive amounts of alcohol over time can also lead to chronic diseases and other serious health problems such as: 1
If you choose to attend rehab at Landmark Recovery, you will first go through alcohol detox to flush all of the toxins from your system. When and if needed, medications will be administered to help manage the intense cravings and negative symptoms.
Once you have completed detox, we will begin treating the underlying causes that led you to your alcohol substance use disorder. Through evidence-based behavioral therapies, you will begin to identify the false beliefs and harmful thoughts behind your addiction. Behavioral therapy also is used to develop the healthy behaviors and coping skills needed to prevent relapse and stay sober. 2
Medications often play an important role in alcohol addiction recovery, as well, and are incorporated into our drug and alcohol rehab programs. There are currently three medications approved by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to help people stop or reduce their drinking and prevent relapse: acamprosate, naltrexone, and disulfiram. 3
